Our old girl has had a rough go of it lately . . . . Possible liver cancer. She's been on medication since early November with no improvement - Until today! FINALLY! It was a small improvement - but the numbers are now going the right way! YEA! And we are beginning to see a glimmer of the old May-May that we've missed!

One of the best toy purchases I've made. I bought her little magna doodle intending to use it for plane rides. Instead of tucking it away in the closet it has stayed out for daily play. Addison gets so much use out of it. We will be needing to replace it someday soon as the screen is beginning to grey - but it certainly has held up well the past two years considering the abuse it has taken.

Day after surgery and this was my view . . . at least for the few minutes I was actually awake during the day. Notice the metal frame around the top of my bed? There was a great trapeze apparatus to help me sit up and move just a bit. I really missed that thing when I checked out!

5:30am in Minnesota, 2:30am in Alaska, waiting in line to get admitted into the Mayo Clinic's Methodist Hospital for my surgery. Sean carried my bag with Lambchop (thanks Mom) through the subway to the hospital. Lambchop made for a great ice-breaker while we waited in line. We met a super nice couple who had a granddaughter named Addison - so we got to swap Addison stories to help keep the anxiety down for both of us ladies who were going "Under the Knife!"

Traveling involves a lot of eating-out. I had never noticed how many restaurants play music until this trip. Addison could not resist singing along with the music (with her own lyrics of course) and since we're still trying to teach Addison how to adjust the volume of her voice, her songs were quite loud. Luckily, most everywhere we went people seemed to enjoy the show with their dinner!

All dressed for Christian's birthday party. Going to a birthday for a one-year old was great. When I was putting Addison to bed tonight, I rocked her and thought of the feeling I had the night of her first birthday . . . I think that was the first time I truly relaxed as a mother. I believe that the first year is all about SURVIVAL. Survival for the child, but for the parents too. Nothing harder than that first year . . . but nothing more wonderfully rewarding about watching your own child grow and learn. When you've got a baby everyone tells you, "It gets even better," and while you can't believe them at the time . . . you quickly learn that they were absolutely correct.

Day 11 and I'm already slackin'.

Maybe it is because it was a Friday the 13th or that we were busy at the high school judging a cheerleading competition or that our entire routine was just 'off' yesterday; but I went to bed without taking a picture last night.

I woke up minutes before midnight and my first thought? I hadn't taken a picture. I ran downstairs and snapped a few before midnight because I couldn't bare the thought of not committing for a year . . . let alone a month . . . let alone TWO WEEKS!! Sheesh!

BTW: Like Addison's sticker on the clock? We have stickers ALL OVER our house! It's pretty.

Stroller Derby. For the past several days Addison's favorite thing to do with me is push her baby strollers around the house. She gets the pink one (filled with Abby Cadabby dolls) and I get the red one (with Elmo dolls). The first day we played with strollers for two hours. I now have something pinched in my lower back and. it. does. not. feel. good. But for as long as I get smiles like this from her, I'll keep pushing!

The hardest part of picking today's post was picking from the B&W, color and sepia versions of this picture. I just love the way Addison's eyes look in this shot.

Addison LOVES to color. She also wants Abby to color with her every time. So Abby's home is no longer the toy bucket. We just leave her on the table when we're done.
